    Hello Everyone,

Thank you for viewing our showcase on the new AP CSP: Cybersecurity Course, endorsed by the College Board and now available through CodeHS. This course allows cybersecurity topics to be introduced as part of a standard AP CSP course. NCyTE has also developed stand alone cybersecurity lessons that can be used in any computer classroom.

Your new AP course appears to be a powerful on-ramp for students looking specifically at careers in cybersecurity, but also, I would think that a cybersecurity background would be important for anyone in a CS field.  What are the ways that have helped you connect with CS HS teachers to build the bridges between HS and college experiences?

    Hi Nathan,

Yes the AP course is a great on-ramp for students pursuing careers in cybersecurity, Information Technology, and or computer science. It is also great for cybersecurity awareness in other careers. The ways NCyTE has connected with CS HS teachers are presenting at conferences focused on K-12, NICE K-12 Conference for example, here is the link:https://www.k12cybersecurityconference.org/

We also connect through NCyTE members, resources, and CodeHS Career Development workshops, here is link on NCyTE website:https://www.ncyte.net/resources/cybersecurity-c...

    Hope this answered your questions.

Great to see cybersecurity as a CSP course. I was wondering what kinds of professional development and support do you provide for teachers? Is there a cost for schools to offer the course?

    Aman,

To answer your cost to schools question. No, the course is free to teachers, once they sign up for a free teacher account on CodeHS (see https://codehs.com/signup/begin). Some schools pay to get Pro accounts, which come with some nice extras, but a free teacher account is all you need to do everything in our course.

Good to see cybersecurity as a CSP course. While some schools may offer curriculum in technology, cybersecurity isn’t typically covered. The cybersecurity field encompasses many different jobs that require varying skillsets.

And such a timely topic to be boosted in curriculum nationwide.  NCyTE has also developed interdisciplinary content via YouTube to help educators address cybersecurity both at basic levels of day-to-day computer use to risk applied to other fields.  New topics include Securing your Digital Life and cybersecurity threats in maritime, national airspace, small unmanned aerial system (UAS or drone) and supply chain risk management.
